The Most Beautiful City in the World

Throughout the day I was struck at how beautiful Cape Town is. First we went to the University of Cape Town, and I am now officially a student of UCT! UCT was the most beautiful campus I have ever seen in my life with the most gorgeous view. It’s up the mountain from our house so it will be a great walk on the mornings that we have class!  We were given a tour of the campus by two graduate students who were so helpful but definitely thought we were crazy Americans. Not only was the campus completely spotless, but there was no construction, two concepts we are not used to coming from UCONN.
Later on in the afternoon we went to Signal Hill (where Jake proposed to Vienna on the bachelor)! Standing in one spot on Signal Hill you can see downtown Cape Town, Table Mountain, Devils Peak, Lions Head, Robben Island, the soccer stadium where they played the World Cup last year and the Atlantic Ocean. It was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. It made me feel so lucky that I can call Cape Town my home for the next three and a half months. The pictures we took were absolutely breathtaking and I will attach one to the blog with the mountains in the background!
Today it felt like spring in Cape Town so we were able to walk around without being chilly and we were actually able to go out for a run before dinner. Sarah (one of the other students I am with) and I went out for a run around Rondebosch Commons. Once again I can’t think of a more beautiful view to look at while running.
This evening we went to Swingers for dinner and to listen to Jazz music. For dinner I had amazing chicken curry. The Jazz players were incredibly talented and made the experience at Swingers very fun. After the main band played people from the crowd got up to “jam,” and played instruments or sang. I cannot wait to experience more of Cape Town because today was absolutely amazing!
